I don't think I could've been more wrong about the election if I tried. Obviously Trump won, you all know that by now, but Dan Osborn lost, and neither of the abortion ballot initiatives went the way I hoped. Just a total fuck sucker of an election. Everything blows.
The milk has been spilled I guess so we better buckle up for the next for years. Especially if you are transgender or gay or really any minority group tbh. If you are trans however, the time to act is now! YOU NEED TO ACQUIRE A PASSPORT!! Not to flee the country although I wouldn't out that off the table. Because of changes made during the Biden administration it is incredibly easy to change your gender marker on your passport. This would give you an official document with your gender on it which would last up to ten years, which would make it outlast any trump presidency (assuming he doesn't become an actual dictator or something).
Also, if you are gay or trans I would encourage you not to go back into the closet if you are already out. After the election I remember seeing some podcast from a trump supporter talking about how they "wish we could go back to the times when we called gay people f*ggots and they went back into the closet". Seeing that clip essentially cemented to me that I need to go full throttle and be 100x gayer. They WANT us to go run and hide. They WANT us to be afraid and scatter into obscurity. What we need to do now is be there for each other more than ever. If you are going to college, look into if there are lgbt or just general social justice clubs. If you live in a larger town you might have some groups that you can join idk im not an expert. Of course if it isn't safe for you to come out it would probably be best for you to ride out the storm, but only you can judge your situation. If you are trans I would look into starting DIY HRT. I'd say https://diyhrt.wiki/ is a good place to start. You will probably have to learn how to get crypto currency but if you're luck you can find cool people who can do that part for you.
Right now there isn't too much you can do to change the world, but you can change your community. Mother Teresa was kind of a shitty person to the sick people she let die but I think she was speaking the truth when she said "If you want to change the world, go home and love your family". This awful period will pass, and until it does we need to be there for each other. If you're reading this, go tell a friend that you love them. Peace.
